...and I didn't know it until I poured it out. :( I saw the clear blob plop into the sink and slide down the drain.

Here is how I made it anyway in case any of you want to do it too.

*I forgot about my kombucha and it turned into vinegar.
*I seperated it from the scoby and set it aside while I got started on another less vinegary batch.
*I forgot about it and there it sat in an opaque tea pot on the counter for 2-3 days.

Today I thought it was time to wash out the tea pot and get it ready for a good batch of kombucha. (I know I should have used the vinegar for other things, but it has been a crazy week.) That was when I poured it down the sink. :(

Now I can make my own faux raw acv. :D

I did something like this too last week when I forgot about my kombucha for awhile...glad I didn't kill it, and I've got a new batch going :D

Made me wonder, could I make real ACV with mother and all by using apple juice as my kombucha food?

And if I did, how would I get it to "stop"? I mean, my Bragg's vinegar is raw and stores at room temperature, and it's not growing anything. Could I use a glob out of that to start a new batch?

Thinking out loud...

Next time, don't pour that vinegary batch out. You can use it to clean with, like you would white vinegar and water. You can also add it to all your critter's feed bins, a glug at a time. My goaties get it on a regular basis. Especially since I forget a lot of stuff lately!

I have no idea.

The mother in the faux acv is not a scoby, right free? (I removed the scoby and strained it a bit to make the tea...before I noticed it was too vinegary. So then it can be stored with the "mother" and be just fine...I'm guessing.

I'm not sure.....vinegar makers? Hello? Anyone else still up this late? (East coast, anyways!)

I'm hoping to make vinegar with some of the wine from the current wine project. I have a mother in a bottle of rice wine vinegar I bought at Whole Foods. I am thinking of using that to innoculate it, but from what I read, you don't really have to, vinegar happens!
