we were at kiddos festival carnival at school and in the backfield a herd of about 15 deer (and little babies which were soooo cute) came thru the treeline.
hubby was drooling to hunt
They really aren't 'herd' animals the same way a lot of others are. They gather in fall due to the rutting, and then are seen more through winter in groups due to the lower amount of food. In spring and summer they spread out again when they can eat, and the does keep their babies (mostly) hidden.
They are beautiful, but with a total of 4 (possibly 5) bad cases of Lyme, and 2 minor cases this year in the barn alone it is not fun. I wish there were a way to do a hunt, but we can't. And as a result, they just aren't afraid of anything!
