RESTING heart rate 103, BP 125/78. I feel like craaaaaaap. I just ate, sauteed onions and peppers in REAL butter, hamburger steak, baked potato with homemade ranch dressing, and homemade garlic bread. I'm thinking it is something in the buttermilk, Turner brand, has a bunch of junk in it. Here's what's on the ingredients label: lowfat milk :sick skim milk powder, modified food starch, salt, locust bean gum, carageenan, sodium citrate, vitamin A palmitate, and vitamin D3.

NO SOY! Right? :hu

I have learned recently that soy is hidden in a lot of flours, but not the brand that I buy as far as the label reads. UGH! Food allergies/sensitivities are SO frustrating :barnie I dunno, but it FEELS like my usual reaction. :/

Anybody have any ideas as to WHY this is happening. I eat healthier than anybody I know  Well, aside from some of ya'll.

From experience, the msg is causing your adrenals to go crazy.
Good time to detox and rest plenty.

You can probably get away with substituting yogurt or keifer for your buttermilk if you can't get real buttermilk. Yuk to that brand! How can they call that chemical soup buttermilk? :tongue

Keep finding ways to replace these things, and keep reading labels.....you'll get there. It takes time. It is a big betrayal and a long journey, one well worth taking.

I thought modified food starch was just a wheat or corn starch that had been enzymatically modified. And I think the modification is mainly to change the size of the starch/carbohydrate molecules, which influences how the viscosity of the final product will turn out.

The only evil I know of, when it comes to this stuff is for those with wheat sensitivities. But that has other symptoms.

Edit: As far as I know, there's no MSG in modified food

(This is a stupid-sounding question, but humor me.)

Are you sure it's food related? People are designed/evolved/trained to detect correlations and causes. Sometimes we find causation for random events.

Sorry to be nosy about this... I should probably not pester you, but a high heart rate is scary, and I just wanted to help, if possible.

Positive it is food related. Always happens after a meal. And I don't think you're being nosy. Curiosity only hurts if you're a cat.

Yes ya'll i thought about all the MSG. It is what DD is really reactive to, and I know the signs from all the studies I have done. UGH...no more Turner buttermilk :sick I can get good buttermilk, but this was given to me, so I took/used it. Never again! Some things aren't worth it even when they're free!!
I still feel ill. My heart rate/BP is back to normal, but my stomach is still queasy feeling.

She's been around the block a few times with this ;)

Feel free to check out the list of names that MSG now hides under. There are at least 40 of them, and they can be found on most all processed food labels.
Natural flavor/s/ing/s are the most common.
The only way it truly is natural, is if it is qualified. If not, you can be certain its msg :(

Yeah natural flavors are a big no no with soy too, and I already have to watch out for it with DD. I don't have very many processed foods in the house anymore. there are just SO MANY bad ones, and bad things in them.
