I was at the farmer's market and my favortie smoked salmon guy was selling "alder wood smoked sea salt" for $10 per a few of ounces! It smelled fantastic and I sooo wanted it, however I thought of you guys here at SS and figured I could try to make my own first. (It is supposed to be fantastic on steamed, buttered veggies etc.)

I happened across this blog or whatever http://simpledailyrecipes.com/make-your-ownsmoked-salt/ and it seems so easy, especially if you are already a smoker like Skr8pin. You could multi-task when you were smoking meats etc.

Anyhoo, I thought I'd share.

You are right about the prices they are getting for the smoked salt. We were at a spice shop in Breckenridge, CO and my friend bought a tiny jar for $7.

I am getting to order some sea salt bulk so I will have to try this. I have smoked things on my gas grill before so this shouldn't be too difficult. Applewood.....:drool
