I got lucky and got mine at a garage sale but even that was $10 and it didn't have all the extras.

For $20 you wouldn't be losing too much even if it's inappropriate. Which it might be, it is clearly not a lab type microscope and some of those kids-hobby type ones have cripplingly terrible optics. Although the old ones of that type are not IME as uniformly useless as the more recently made kids-hobby type ones.

If you get it, make sure all the major parts are there, and actually look through it at a piece of your own hair stretched across the stage. If you can get a really clear look at the hair, see the leetle shingle-like scaley bits on it, then it should be basically ok for doing fecals. If it is really bad blurry/rainbowy/distorted or if there is a big difference in focus between the center and the outer half, it could be a problem though.
