I don't normally watch the predictions made by the groundhog. After all, he's some place in PA, I'm in SJ. And, while he was busy predicting an early spring, the sun was shining here. But, I was hopeful. After all, the temps were below normal and everything was frozen solid and I wanted warmth!

Well, I hoped in vain. I'm still waiting for that early spring. And, I'm also wondering if his definition of early is different than mind. And, I'm also trying to figure out the best way to serve him him, stewed, BBQ, or what.

Oh we warmed up and it was feeling like June almost with those 50 degree temps. Then Mother Nature laughed and flipped her switch back. It's snowing bad in the pass. We have lots of wind and rain here, which is normal winter weather. I was going to hook the hoses up so I didn't have to haul water for the chickens anymore. Then it started freezing at night again. It was 26 two nights ago.

We warmed up for just a couple of days, and I was all excited. Then, it got cold again.

I'm sitting under a lake effect snow band right now. the pup killed a big ol' fat vole and brought it to the back door. I applaud her kind thought. :D

It's getting cold here tonight too :( Supposed to be back up to the 70's by the end of the week though.

The vole sacrifice did not work just north of here by 10 miles or so, lake effect snow warning through noon Friday. 15+ inches. Need to drive through this to get to work.

Last week we had a hard frost, Monday it was 89 degrees. While most of the country is dealing with snow, spring has sprung here. I am scrambling to get all my started plants in the ground now before the summer heat gets here and scorches everything. This week has cooled off to nights in the 50's and days in the 70's.

Jamie, maybe if she had killed something bigger, the effect would have been felt farther away. Be safe driving tomorrow.
