4 days ago I became the unprepared, but nonetheless very happy chicken mom of these guys:

Long story short, some people living nearby decided it's high time I get some gamefowl, so well, I now have games? lol A game breeder friend of mine ID'd her as an OEG, Whitehackle strain. The Whitehackle males are absolutely stunning and I'm on the lookout for one now.

The chicks' dad was an Aseel, my favourite game breed.

I've had game chickens before. They sure made good moms! Your new babies are so cute, congrats!

I've heard they can be super protective. Any truth to that?

Thanks @baymule!

@Denim Deb yes, very much so. I put them in a day pen and herd them to the night pen in the evenings. About 3 days ago, while doing this, my DS chased my other hens towards them and one of the hens pecked a chick… That was a mistake! I got slapped so hard when I separated them, I had a bruise on my hand afterwards. With me handling the chicks she's completely fine though. She's really laid-back.
