Well the whole idea is to lower your 6-3 ratios from the SAD which is crazy! Somewhere between 20:1 - 50:1...we should be striving for closer to 1:1

Margerine is very high in O6.....if they added O3, it is pretty much still pointless. In the last link it points out that some manufactures of "O3" margerine are using a cheap plant based O3 which is not as effective.

Omega-6 fatty acids are essential for health, but the amount consumed by most Americans increases the risk of obesity, diabetes, inflammatory diseases, and cancer. Omega-6s are most abundant in vegetable oils such as corn oil, safflower oil, and cottonseed oils

I strongly recommend you avoid corn, sunflower, soy, safflower, canola, or products which contain these oils. This means no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats, no margarine, no shortening, no vegetable oil. These oils are full of omega-6 fats and will only worsen your omega 6/omega 3 ratio. You want to emphasize high quality extra virgin olive oil, organic butter, coconut oil and avocados.

BBC Radio 4 this morning had a brief item about margarine. The item focused on the fact that margarine manufacturers can trumpet the presence of heart-healthy omega-3 fats on the label. Professor Jack Winkler, Professor of Nutrition Policy at London Metropolitan University made the claim that such labelling is misleading. It seems that margarine manufacturers are putting cheap plant-based omega-3 fats (I assume alpha linolenic acid) and kinda passing them off as fish oils. Professor Winkler appeared to claim that fish-derived omega-3 fats have proven cardiovascular benefits that do not extend to plant-derived omega-3.

We were discussing this on one of my low carb forums. The test was a joke. It looks like Unilever was trying to justify adding a little bit of omega 3 to their crap margarine and pimping it as a health product. Too bad so sad on the test results :gig
