We just had a grocery sack of pears dumped on us. Any ideas what to use them for? They are a little under ripe but should be good for cooking or canning .

Got recipes for canned pears? Pear jelly? Pear butter?

Thanks

:clapFree food!!

They are good baked or fried like an apple would be. Butter, sugar -- white &/or brown -- cinnamon if wanted. ear upside down cake. Let them ripen and eat fresh. Pears are good many ways. Can them like you would apples.

I can them. Peel, quarter and core. Drop in a bowl of water with lemon juice added so they don't brown. Drain and cook in a light syrup of 1 cup sugar to three cups water. When tender, put in jars. along with syrup, cap and process in a water bath.

That's what she did. Are they like pickles? Do they need to cure for a while?
