My granddaughters and I picked the last of the sweet corn. It's a HOT one again today in southern IL - I sweating up a storm... But the sad thing is I know when we pick the last of the corn - that the end of summer is coming fast :(

This is what's left after we had several meals and gave some away... Now we gotta sort out the small / bad ones to give to the chickens and then vacuum seal the rest to freeze for winter use.

My wife is perfectly fine with me dumping yard cards full of sweet corn on the porch :)

Trimmed an vacuum seal about 32 gallons. I BTed (Bacillus Thuringiensis) the tips about 3 or 4 days to late due to rain and got a minor infestation of tip worms. I trimmed well past the tip worms.

For the chickens, they really go nuts for sweet corn and will love me long time now -lol

Now I just have to go and get rid of some old stuff in the freezer to make a little room for the corn.

I'm not Hispanic - but I had smut on corn a few years ago - I plucked that stuff of, sliced it up and sautéed it and some onions/garlic in butter! YUM!

I have no idea how to prepare it, but it's the smutted corn that they eat. It's really just a funky mold.
