Ok I just heard this on the news, and of course it is being downplayed! Yesterday they said three weeks before it came to us "If" it actually did make it to us.
Now suddenly as of this morning, it will be here tomorrow.....also Nevada and Arizona.

But let's be clear ......there is nothing to worry about :)
:barnie. :smack. :he. :hit :barnie. :smack. :he :hit

Oh yeah.....we also have rain in the forecast which means that the radioactive material will be brought down to the ground to settle into the soil where it will contaminate for years and years to come. Bye bye fresh veggies for a while and milk, cream, and cheese for a long while....I have no idea what the long term implications are, these are just tidbits that I have heard on the news pertaining to Japan, buti would guess it will pertain to us now. :hit

And the best part? They are NOT even talking about it on the news!!!!

I read these articles

they are more "not having problems for the USA' vs. what you are saying in your post.

It seems it will NOT be as dangerous as one might expect??

are you reading what I was reading?

the airstream will bring atmosphere from that area and travel into the AZ area etc.......it does this anyway.....but they are saying that NO radiation has been detected in its monitors etc.

am I reading this wrong or something? lol

I truly think an MRI would give you more dose of radiation vs. what 'assumed' is traveling this way.

Ok, you are right, I am definitely embellishing because of other things I have heard leads me to believe that we are not being given the full scoop and besides, I don't trust the powers that be.

So I have been watching the national news and they really seem to think that we have no worries here. Maybe true. I just freak out when one day they tell us it'll be three weeks and then I wake this morning to hear "the plume of radiation will be arriving tomorrow, and now let's look a this mornings commute" :smack
I am irritated :(

National news just had on an "expert" he explained the fallout circle around Chernobyl and the death rates as well as increased cancer rates....according to him, we are safe by 2 thousand miles. So am feeling better now although I still do not really trust that we are told the truth.

Plus I do worry about how this radiation will affect our food.

I should have said US. It looks like Sweden and surrounding areas are bad too. I was talking about Wausau, WI

"The E.P.A. has declared Radon Awareness Month across the country, but it may not be more important anywhere than in central Wisconsin.

Experts say area households are commonly exposed to twenty-five times the recommended concentration of the cancer-causing gas.

It's not a substance you can give a smell or taste, but it can give you cancer.

In the winter, household heating creates low a pressure zone indoors and the gas in the ground is pulled through the floor inside. You won't know it's there, but in central Wisconsin, it's abundant in dangerous doses.

"Marathon County is ranked number one for the amount of radon gas in the homes in the state," said Sara Brown, a radon specialist with the Marathon County Health Department. "It's because of geological formations beneath the ground, all of the granite that we have creates the radon gas and there's a lot of uranium in the granite."

The good news is you can get cheap kits from hardware stores or health departments to measure your risk. In Wausau, kits from the health department and the local hardware store were both $8 but the store charged a lab processing fee.

Experts say a measurement of 4 pCi/L a problem. Homes in our area commonly test at more than a 100 pCi/L."

Of course, as kids, we spend our winters playing indoors in the basements...where all the radon concentrated.
