Right now, I've got many different sorts of tape piled into a box in my shop. I know where to go to find tape when I need it, but I have to dig down and find just the roll I want, then often I also have to go grab a knife or some scissors to get a decent cut for each piece.

This design for a "Multi Tape Dispenser" answers these two needs. The gadget will hold many rolls (and kinds) of tape, and gives you a way to cut strips of tape, as well. C;ick on this link fo see a larger illustration, and to get picture-illustrated instructions for making the thing.

The designer/writer says to use old scoll-saw blades for the cutter - I think you could also use old hacksaw blades, if these were what you had on hand. The design and instructions for this little project are provided by the Instructables web site.

I love this kind of stuff! I have a drawer full of various tapes, but I don't know that I use any of them enough to create a jig for them.

With that said, I'm VERY curious if a hacksaw blade (even a new one) would slice tape well enough?

I think my hubby used part of one on a tape dispenser he made.

That's a fair question, Nifty. It's true that by the time I or most guys retire a hacksaw blade, it can be pretty dull. :p

Deb said she thinks her hub used one... I dunno. Whatever's handy that ya don't need and has a decently sharp serrated edge. The basic concept/design the guy shows us points us in the right direction for experimentation with that detail of the project.

Joel/nifty,
The hacksaw blade isn't slicing the tape just perforating it. Your pulling down and out is doing the work. But on the used side I don't think any of my old blades could do it ( no teeth left)

Do you think the metal cutting blade on a box of Saran Wrap / plastic wrap, or aluminum foil could be stripped off and used?
