I think she meams when they were put out of the garden. Adam was the first farmer, else who taught Abel? God taught Adam.

And they were told to care for the garden. We don't know what all that involved. Then, they were put out of the garden. Genesis 3:23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to TILL the ground from whence he was taken. Unless your definition of a farmer is different than mine, Adam WAS a farmer.
