I have two quart bags of jalepeno peppers that I need to either pitch or at least get out of my freezer. One has just more mature, red jalepeno's.

Would I have any luck trying to start a pepper plant from those seeds? Or would it just be a waste of time?

Well, you may as well TRY, who knows, you could get lucky :)

I have successfully grown peppers from (very!) dried chiles sold in food markets in the SW. Yours would have the considerably greater challenge of being frozen while damp -- I would not be surprised if they were dead but really how much work is it to give it a whirl? :)

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

Yep, why not "get rid of them" in a nice pile of compost in a nice sunny spot and see if anything grows? Can't hurt anything!

Now that I've had a bit to ponder it (in between a flurry of unrelated thoughts), I think I'll just put them in a couple of big 'ol flower pots that I have and see what happens.

My hens tear up composting in pretty short order.

Thanks gals. I didn't even think about them being frozen 'damp'. And they sure were.
