Really? How do they figure the "wealthy" part?? :gig

This was discussed at greater length in an earlier thread but I can't find it now.

The bottom line is that, if you go into the quantcast site and have a lot of time on your hands and some braincells you don't mind boring to death, you will discover that their numbers are largely pulled out of their butt (or "thin air" if you prefer a more delicate version). They look at what other sites people visit SS from and to, and stuff like that, and then make extremely wild statistical inferences in order to try to sell the resulting numbers for a profit, basically :p

It's a racket. A *silly* racket, IMHO. Obviously some in the business world fall for it, but, just proves PT Barnum was right ;)

Wealthy huh? The way we all talk about ways to be frugal? Seems off.
Honestly, the several TRULY wealthy people/families I've known HAVE been pretty frugal. Buying good-quality stuff but then using it 'forever', buying secondhand, in some cases growing/raising their own food (for quality rather than for economy I think), conserving and reusing stuff, no unnecessary purchases, etc.

Those whose idea of wealth involves profligate spending tend not to remain wealthy for all that long. Our current idea of "wealth" has been heavily skewed by the "hey look, we're the nouveaux riches!" 1980s and 1990s :p
