Sunflowers popping up! pheasant food step 1.

I put them in my little grow box, Germination says about 14 days, but I don't know if leaving the light on will quick up the time. Once they start to flower I will Cut off the heads, dry them, harvest them and then plant some more :D

This is what I want to do for my chickens!! I plan to plant a lot of sunflower seeds to harvest for them!!

Me too, me too! I'm planting a huge patch of sunflowers as a border between my organic gardens and the nonorganic field next to it. Then, I'll harvest most of the heads for the chickens. They LOVE sunflowers in winter :) Keeps them happier inside and keeps them scratching through their deep compost/bedding to keep it turned.

I have a huge amount of sunflower seeds just waiting to be planted. This way, I'll have 'em ready for the chickens when I get them next year.

They don't need constant light but some of course. Congrats on getting your seedlings started!!!!

I grow tons of sunflowers on our farm. So many varities, I just love them!!

(At my house they just become tall squirrel feeders :rant )

WZ, I'm afraid mine are going to become giant squirrel feeders as well.

I hush up about it though if it keeps them out of my garden.
