aka flowerbug's chaos, methods and whatever bits that stick along the journey...

i'm not going to duplicate all of my posts here from my thread at TEG or my website so you have your homework set for you if you really want to follow closely. oh, also my thread on the permaculture site which is broken a bit at the moment until i fix it (again! grr!)...

first of all:

TEG: https://www.theeasygarden.com/threads/stubbed-toes-and-mud-pies.21224/
Website: http://www.anthive.com/
Permies: https://permaculturenews.org/forums/index.php?threads/songbirds-roost.12530/

if that isn't enough i have plenty of other links that will take you a long time to work through
all those resources and reading suggestions... ;)

these last two show only a few of the projects i have followed for years to show what is possible in even some of the worst conditions.

a picture of some Monster Children beans in the sun since it came out today. the red color and pattern i've been after for quite a few years. :) the more orange colored ones are still nice to see too.

and since i had the camera out and the sun was cooperating i took a few pictures of the beans that Russell Crow sent and i'm just calling these Santa beans for now.

i can't always remember what i've posted where so if i repeat myself just put it down to too many scattered brain cells and no sure method of keeping track of what i do where. :)

more daffodils with some sunshine for a change. there's a lot more color out there now that some of the later daffodils have also started to come out so in a few more days when the sun tries to come out again i'll take some more pictures. i also need to mark some clumps and plants for removal or thinning.

garden club meeting was fun, i talked too much. still good to talk to fellow gardeners in person and share some things about tomatoes, garlic, onions and the naked seeded squash. we also talked about fences, morels, cattle panels, groundhogs, mice, voles, moles, squirrels, deer and adventures in woodland or field living.

hope we will pick up garden plant starts today.

a tree froggy came to visit the last time we had a decent rain overnight when I was staying up late reading - they like to get the bugs off the windows.

it is past season for the crocuses but i did get a few pictures of them that i liked.

in this one you can see the rabbits or deer chewed on the plant and just nipped the top of the flower.

the past few years i've not been able to get a decent lilac picture and this year it almost happened again, but i'd gone out a week before all the blooms were open and tried to get one that worked. i went back out a week later and all the blooms were spotted or damaged.

half the squash are roasted and in the freezer. two of them are completely new to us. Sweet Dumpling Squash lived up to the name for sure. too sweet for me (yes, hard to believe) but i've not usually been a huge fan of acorn type squash anyways so while this was an improvement it still didn't do enough. luckily all those SDS could be mashed up and mixed with all the other squash.

the other squash new to us this year is a cross breed of some kind and i was afraid it was going to be more like a Hubbard, but it turned out to be a very good squash so now i have yet another project of seeing if these seeds will come true for a few years. if they do then i'll have to figure out a name. i have two other large squash just like it yet to roast so there should be plenty of seeds. very healthy squash and pretty large seeds. hybrid vigor or not we'll see what happens.
