You know all this global warming hype came about because the earth has warmed 1 degree in the last 100 years...

Did you know that here in Canada we can shout "PRO LIFE" as much as we want but we are still paying taxes to pay for abortions?

Did you know that the taxes we pay even go to SUPPORT child porn?

Yup these things really irk me...

yea but on the abortion part...there are people shouting PRO CHOICE who paid taxes also. (not a debate, just the flip side of everyone paying taxes)

And global warming...ugh...I agree...between warm and cooling it is impossible to find research to tell what they are truly discovering and who is right etc.....just a mute subject to me and I don't get involved in global warm or cool.
BUT how about someone worry about the air quality in general. Heck on a mountain you can only see like 1 mile now instead of 100 miles before....the valleys are chocked with junk in the air, and air quality in big cities...yikes.....so why worry about 1 degree when we need to address if we can breathe today!! :)

But on the child porn....WHAT....how is that? It just doesn't make sense to me to support porn thru taxes...what are they doing?

just rambling..LOL

That's what irks me...I can be as PRO LIFE as I want but I am still footing the bill for abortions...simply by being a good citizen and paying my taxes.... :barnie

As for the child porn I am trying to refind the link that put that all together for me:>)

Found it!

So much gets me going...so I know how you feel! Big money, big taxes, big players and we truly don't have a say in anything. Yea we can elect them etc...but in the end they do what they want....one day we will change that :) well, maybe.. LOL

Sure, there are LOTS of things my tax dollars support that I strongly disagree with... and a few things I think they should support that they don't, too... but what are you suggesting could be done to change that? (e.t.a. other than voting for different politicians, of course :p -- but I mean, no matter how you vote, there WILL always be policies you hate, that's just the way it is)

I sure can't think of anything. In principle you could have everyone fill in a big long questionnaire, when they file their taxes, about which of the following four thousand items do you not want your tax money to go to... but I honestly don't see that being workable.

Nothing that involves lots and lots and lots of people is going to please everyone, but we do get an awful lot of benefits out of government, as opposed to, say, anarchy :p

Yeah, that's the thing about living in a society. It is absolutely impossible to make everyone happy. Work toward and support the things you believe in, vote for candidates who align with your beliefs most closely. That's about all we can do in such a large and complex society. No matter how we feel about government and how it's run, we still do get benefits from it. We might not get all the benefits we think we need, and we may inadvertantly support things with our tax money we don't believe in, but that's the price we pay for the benefits we do get.
