I recently read a tip from a reader in one of my quilt magazines and thought I would share. She takes all the little scraps of fabric and batting and puts them into a pillowcase. When she fills up the pillowcase she adds some cedar shavings and sews it closed and donates it to the local animal shelter for a cat or small dog bed! I thought this was a great tip for all those sewers and quilters out there and a great way for all of us animal lovers to give back!

That's a neat idea! I've done a similar thing with old holey socks and underwear, the sorts of things that don't make good rags, never thought of doing it with all those too-small snippets of fabric! :)

That is a great idea!! I'm going to dig my too little pieces out of the trash. It's "clean" trash, so it'll be OK.

Goodwill always has cheap pillow cases.

Thanks for posting that. I think I'll start saving mine, too.
