This thread is for posting the pleasures that make up your day, the delights you encounter, and even the learning experiences.

Today, I am thankful for:

Warm sunshine. It's such a treat to feel the sun warming my body after a long brutal winter, and many wet gloomy spring days.

Baby woodpeckers. There are some newly fledged babies flitting around. They'll go from one tree to an other. Then, they land on the trunk, about 6" apart, and commence their "Scree-chit, Scree-chit..." Till one of them takes off, followed by the others, and they do it again at the next tree. I think there are 4 of them.

My friend grew up on a dairy farm and his mom would train the cows to respect her when they were just little stinkers. She would grab them by their lower jaw and tip them over. When they are little, spindly legged things, it is really easy to do. They learned quick that when she grabbed their jaw, they would freeze in place. He says it was really funny to see a full grown Holstein go from butthead to statue in less than 1 second. She would hold them like that for about a minute and put her face down and tell them to behave! - maybe less than a minute, but it was enough to strike fear through their brain. When she let them loose, they would turn and calmly walk to their stall... She was a small but mighty woman.

Everything! This beautiful place at which I live, the home God provides for us, the comfort we have around us, the changing of the seasons, the time I get to spend with grandchildren and my children....I'm completely blessed in that!

Life is good, God is great and I am so very thankful! :celebrate

Mission complete, and it was soooo much fun!:celebrate It was great to put more faces to the names, hear their voices, and see the homesteads first hand! :clap
God provided all, but specifically cool weather, minimal traffic, little construction (in August!!), and safe travel throughout. Each day started and ended with prayer and gratitude, and the long days of travel were filled with teaching and preaching cassettes and music.
Maybe by next spring, I'll be ready for sheep of my own, and can get one lamb from @Farmfresh and one from @Beekissed to start my own little flock here. It will be fun to see where this all leads. :weeeI'm sure this journey isn't over yet just because I'm back home.

My family has long quoted the second line of this little poem about me wandering around the countryside. It fits me well!:D

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
(J.R.R. Tolkien)

I am so very thankful for many things: The blessing of electricity. I can enjoy the air (from the fan) moving over me when the weather is so very hot. We just brought up the small AC unit for the bedroom.

I am thankful for being able to think smart to avoid stress on our aging backs. We used a couple of 2 x 4's and a rolly luggage carrier thing to roll that AC up the 2 sets of steps instead of carrying it. I will be able to sleep in cool comfort tonight, and the 4 AM rooster wake up call will not be as noticeable.

I am thankful for what is now shaping up to be a fantastic growing season. Garden is looking mighty fine.

I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me in my little piece of paradise. The daily visits and songs of the robins and other song birds, the dew on the grass, the fire fly dances, the feel of raindrops on my skin, being able to run out to the garden to gather greens, or herbs to complete a meal.

I am thankful for hubby's vacation. 11 glorious days together. I'll be working at least 2 of those days, but we'll be able to enjoy the rest, and the days that I do work will be short.

I am thankful for hubby. My best friend for the last 48 years. When he and I put our brain power and strength together, we are able to accomplish at least 3 times as much. We complete each other in thought and deed.

Finally, and first of all, I am thankful for Jesus Christ. He is the center of our relationship, our stronghold, our reason for being.

I am thankful for friends and family. I thank God for leading us to this place, this house, this land, all the neighbors here and the beauty around us.

I thank God for this country and I pray that it will hold together as envisioned by the founding fathers as outlined in our Constitution. I pray that God Bless this nation and not let it go the way of socialism.

The weather has cooled down here....the turning point of summer into fall has arrived with cooler nights and clearer, less humid days. For that I'm so very thankful!!!

Bay, I sympathize with the mobile home without power in the summer thing...a few years back we had a derecho came through, blew down many trees and we were without power for almost two weeks in the hottest part of summer.

We put trash cans under downspouts for watering the animals and after dark I'd go out there and wash up in the rain barrels, then dip my nightgown in the water, ring it out and wear it wet to bed. The evaporation of the water helped me be cooler through the night. That was before we even put in ACs here, so mostly were missing the window fans.

Today my heart is filled to overflowing with gratitude!!! The good Lord is always providing for me and loving me in a million ways, but today is a special blessing!

@milkmansdaughter is coming to my homestead!!!!! :weee:celebrate:love Not only that, she comes bearing a gift from afar. @Farmfresh was good enough to sell me her very best lamb ram of the season, get him prepped for interstate travel(a LOT of bother, mind you), and MMD is transporting him here to me in WV, all the way from MO! :th

What seemed like a light and jesting comment by FF about how she would love to sell me her ram lamb snowballed into @TexasLisa bankrolling the gas for the drive, MMD doing the transport and FF actually selling me her good stock. :th I am completely and totally blown away by all this generosity, kindness and love...been walking on air for days now, just thanking God over and over for these wonderful women I know but have never personally met.

God moves in such mysteriously intricate ways in this life to bring His plans together. I praise Him for His ways! :celebrate

Romans 11:33: "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!"

And, I'm just sitting here in Maine, also thankful for the delight of this transaction. Can't wait to see pics of that Ram as he inspects his Ewes! When will he be allowed dating privileges?

Not until November! :D Poor guy. He's still a baby, though, so the urge may not be hitting him hard just yet, though they are fully ready to breed at 3 mo. of age...I've heard even younger. I saw him doing the ewe checking moves to his sisters on one of FFs vids. ;)
