Can I quit? Not taking care of my animals and garden, but everything else? I had a horrible day today, and am not getting everything done. There are certain things that I had to deal w/today due to other people, and I will NEVER understand it. It made my day so much harder than it had to be.

It makes me want my own place more and more. I don't want to have to deal w/everyone else's animals. I hate a cement floor in a barn cuz I can't stand the smell of the horse urine. You just can't get rid of it. It clings to you and to your shoes. And when you have a horse knock your hat off into that, that's not good. My run in has a dirt floor w/pea gravel. It doesn't stink in there. It's easy to clean the poop out, and the pee just drains thru it.

I want gates that open and close easily and are real gates that don't weigh a ton. I don't want to worry about horses and donkeys getting thru the gates because someone has put hay down right next to the gate. I don't want to have to worry about other chickens. I don't want to have to leave when I have so much work to do at home to go and care for my animals. I want to be able to ride when I plan, and not have to do a ton of work instead.

Hubby and I are supposed to be going to an outdoor expo. They've now changed the forecast, and it could rain. I hope not. This is the only "vacation" I'll probably get.

I could go on and on, but I won't. But, this should give you a little idea of how I'm feeling right now.

DenimDeb i hope you're feeling better. i do truly know how frustrating it can be to have to take care of your animals where it isn't always easy to do because of the set up. it will get better someday and in the mean time just keep on keeping on. if you need to go to your room, put your face in your pillow and scream at the top of your lungs, sometimes that helps most of all.

I'm not much of a screamer. But, today was, for the most part, a good day. I had a fairly good time at the expo. Hubby humored me for a bit, then went and sat in the car and fell asleep. There were a few things that I didn't really get to look at because it started to rain, and it was fairly heavy. So, people were packing things up. I had one of those emergency ponchos on, but it doesn't completely cover your arms and legs, so they got wet. I did get hubby to stop at tack store I noticed on the way there, but didn't buy anything.

By the time we got home, the rain had pretty much stopped, so I got some dry clothes on and went out to the farm. I think once the stones that I've put down have a chance to really settle into the ground, it will make a difference in my field. But for now, it made it worse. There was dirt mixed in w/the stones, so it made mud where there wasn't mud B4. But seeing as how I just got the stone put down the other day, and it was really dry, I'm not surprised.

This week, I'll be working on getting it set up at home for chickens. I need to get the ones I want at home, home. Then I need to work on making the my pen bigger, and adding more housing.

Hubby is drunk again and is talking non stop. I'm going to have to talk w/him soon when he's not drunk and hope that he realizes at the very least that he's making it so I don't get enough sleep. I need to relax and unwind a bit B4 I can go to sleep, and I can't do that when he won't shut up-especially if he stays up late. Then, it's at least another hour B4 I can get to sleep, sometimes more. But, I still have to get up at the normal time in the morning.

Got a fairly descent night's sleep and I don't really have a lot planned for today. Church, of course and I still haven't cleaned the kitchen. I really need to do that, and will probably do it today. Other than that, just normal animal chores and maybe cleaning out my truck.

This week promised to be busy. It's getting cooler out, and I have a ton of stuff to do B4 it gets really cold. Number one on my list is to get the goat pen redone and set up an area for chickens at home. I really need to get them out of there. And, I really need to get the one room in my basement clean so I can use my wood stove.

Didn't really do anything yesterday but take a long nap. I guess I needed it. So, I'll be busy today. I'll be doing some cleaning in the kitchen. My sauce didn't cook down all the way on Friday, and I didn't do anything w/it over the weekend. So, I'll be finishing that up today.

I also will be working on where I'm planning to extend the goat pen to to get that all cleaned up. Then hopefully on Wednesday, I can get that done as well as have the area set up for the chickens-even though I won't have a house in there for them. I'll have to make that this week so I can bring them home. I'll probably have to do that on Saturday since hubby says he needs my truck on Friday, and I doubt he wants me to bring home chickens in his car. :D

I'll also be playing around w/my video camera today and seeing if I can't make a video. If so, I'll be (hopefully) getting a channel on You Tube.

So since today promises to be busy, I guess I'd better get my list made so I'm ready to start working shortly after hubby leaves for work. So here's my list for today:

1. Wash and hang out a load of laundry-just not sure what
2. Put away laundry from last week-a load of sheets and one of towels
3. Work on kitchen
4. Clean living room
5. Normal farm chores
6. Clean field and spread manure
7. Work w/and ride Misty
8. Work on cleaning along fence line
9. Try to figure out why my electric isn't working
10. Dishes
11. Finish sauce
12. Clean where I want to extend the goat pen to
13. Feed bunny and goats and clean out goat pen

That should be enough for today. I need to start practicing the piano again. W/it getting light later, I have more time to do so.

Sorry about your rough day. I can sympathize. Glad it got better though. The advantage to your own place is that if the gates don't work and animals get out and things aren't perfect is still yours and yours to deal with. It isn't always fun but at least it's yours.

I hope that once I get my own place I won't have to worry about gates that don't work properly and animals getting out! I don't have that problem w/my animals, and shouldn't have to deal w/it from others.

Didn't quite get done everything I wanted to. When I got to the farm, there were 2 donkeys out, the auto waterer was leaking and the emu doesn't look good. We were able to round up the donkeys. But, they got into the one feed, and ate it all up. So in order to feed the horses, I had to give them some of the other kind.

I got the waterer to where it was no longer leaking, but it needs more work. This is something that RU is going to have to take care of, I can't do it by my self.

We tried to do stuff for the emu, but don't know that it really did any good. We have no idea how old she is, and I have a feeling that she won't make the night. But there's nothing we could do about it. She was quite literally a stray. SPCA didn't know what to do w/her, so gave her to RU. So, I didn't work on cleaning along the fence line, I didn't find the problem w/my electric, and I didn't ride Misty.

I did, however, get some of the living room cleaned, did some of the dishes and got my sauce made! The lids are all popping. I have more tomatoes to do, and I'm thinking I'm going to do stewed tomatoes.

I'm also not sure if I want to have the whole garden next year. Hubby keeps wanting to go into my garden and pick stuff to take to work for the guys. I don't grow it to give it away unless I have extra. I think I'd rather have half the garden, and just grow food for me. Then, he can do what he wants w/his half.
