I have decided to tackle this monster list and introduce myself. I have really enjoyed reading this forum and have learned so much already! DH and I decided that to the horror of his family and mine that we wanted to become more SS and to get our kids further away from the "city". We found a nice small town that has been welcoming (as welcoming as small towns can be )
and have been slowly working toward our dream. The land we got is not ideal. It had been heavily timbered and left to grow up. Topsoil is almost nil so we don't really want to doze it. So we are trying to clear it a little at a time. One thing that grows very well here are saw briars. You know those big thick ones that rip clothes, shred any piece of skin it touches and basically makes you want to run crying back to the house. Hence the name Briar Patch Farm. Well at least I grow weeds well.
