We currently live in Jacksonville, NC while my husband is in the Marine Corps waiting (hopefully
) medical retirement. We do want to move to a "farm" with at least 6 acres, but less than 10. hopefully on that farm we will be able to have chickens, cattle, goats, sheep, and horses.
Currently, we live in a subdivision, and we have apple trees, a pear tree, raspberries, grapes, mulberries, kiwis (planted this year), and 6 raised beds along with room for corn, watermelon, and pumpkin that are not in raised beds. Hubs would like to work for the EPA after he gets out of the Marine Corps so we can further our love for green living and be more self sustaining. (It sure does take a lot to get started!! LOL) We're learning to live more off of the land, as my husband is Native American, but from Minnesota so has not a clue what to really do down here.
Glad to know that I can come here and get advice to help us along the way!

there are lots of goat people here, be careful, they'll lure you in with tales of wonderful cheeses, funny kidding stories, well ....stay on guard until you get the farm.
