pressure cooker modification

Actually they do not. If you super heat the mix in a pressure cooker every boilable vapor comes to the condenser and either very long air or water cooled pipes ane needed to convert back to liquid and then you still have the proplem of seperating the alsohol from the water. In theory a moonshine still should drive off the alcohol only with a tiny amount of water usually aditional water is added to cut down on the amount of alcohol to a point where it is drinkable. usually it is transported uncut and cut at the point of sale much as other drugs are.

Well, it all boils down to how you operate the thing. If you crank the heat, no still will work properly. In the lab, even without vacuum, we always heated very gently in an electrically heated water bath. So for moonshine, I'm sure you have to keep the heat under control.

It's legal to have several small stills---you know, because making rosewater is something that people do in their kitchen all the time!
