Now that we have wayyyy downsized, I have several small appliances that I'm going to need to store in our unheated garage for the winter. One of them is my dehydrator, and another is my pressure canner (maybe not technically an 'appliance'). Will the cold have a negative effect on them? I don't plan on taking them from the garage & using them - probably won't use them again until spring. Average lows in the winter are in the 20s, but recent winters have had a stretch of 0 degree nights.

My canner is always stored in an outside unheated shop. I just make sure its cleaned, dry, and packaged well. The dehydrator I am not sure about since it is electric. I would suggest that you place a towel in the bottom of the box and another one on top of the dehydrator before closing the box. That should help keep moisture out.

The manual for my AA canner says that I should careful not to put it on a burner if it's cold. Otherwise, it might crack or something.
