What did you do in your garden today?

2 of 4 kitties give 2 paws up on the oat grass. Need to plant more.

The first onion sets I planted are mostly up. Radishes are popping up.

Rain 6 out of the next 7 days, not a lot will get done methinks

Sure it will. Lots of holes dug, sticks broken up, he might even be able to fit a nap in there.

Yesterday I mowed and trimmed the very front and lots of branches moved to the back. Never ending work,lol but has to be done. Just like today. It rained all day so I just slept all day. Made some shrimp soup and back to bed.

Question, I read that it is better to get onion seeds that sets. What are your opinions? 🤔

Sets or plants this late in the season. Seeds if starting inside late winter.

That superthin asparagus, what can I do with it?

Do any of you make ezequiel bread?
Where do you get the ingredients?
Do I need to buy a milling machine or a silver bullet will do?

Tasted a bread today and was told it was ezequiel bread. It was very good.

The super thin ones make the best pickles. My
Great Uncle always had a bunch of those sent off to be processed into pickles each year. They don't sell as well for the farm sales fresh.

I always prefered them for asparagus on toast. I'd pick out the thin ones for mine when Mom would make that for lunch. Mom prefered the big ones.

Others have more experience than I do but i'll give it a try...

Super thin asparagus may be female (develops seed heads) or just needs more growing seasons to mature. I just leave it alone, including the females to spread seeds and the males to grow big and strong. If you mow it during the growing season, that's the end of the asparagus patch. You can however mow it at the end of the growing season, after it's died back for winter.
