Is that a Naked Neck roo?

I'm not sure. I'm hoping it's a hen, but it's a little suspect.
Funny story, that was the first chic I hatched. It looked sickly and had no feathers on it's neck. I figured it was deformed and desti ed for death. Then I remembered the fella I bought the sexlinks he s from had a Turken rooster. Evidently they can carry a fertilized egg for weeks because I did hatch any eggs for quite some time after I got the hens.

The wife canned some dilled green tomato relish today. Hopefully it's as good as it looks

Who knows with those birds? I have one hen and I love her. Ugly as she can be - kinda so ugly she's cute - but a wonderful hen. Lays big ol' eggs and hatched babies this year too. And she's the only hen out there fierce enough to actually raise chicks that survive! I want a dozen of 'em!

I don't need a nn roo. If it started crowing your welcome to have this one.

I may be too attached to eat it

The relish looks good in the pics!

It's amazing how quickly chickens grow and mature. Of course it seems a lot longer when you're waiting for eggs, right? :D My little 4 day olds are showing wing feathers already. There are a lot of other things I would like to grow up that fast!

Your birds are looking good! I know you were waiting on the first eggs...should be soon. My group of 2 mo olds have a while but I'm already anxiously awaiting those lovely colored eggs.

Seeing everything come together makes all the work and wait worth it.

Kudos to your wife! Canning is rewarding, it is so good to open a jar of something that you grew and canned.
