Turkeys about breeding time

59 pints plus about a 1/4 pint. So a little over 7 gallons of ole turkey tom soup. I'll get pics tomorrow.

Its January 5th and one of my mature turkey hens decided it's spring, go figure!

Been so wet here, I couldn't take seeing my turkeys walking around in mud covering their feet. So I bought some winter wheat staw bales 4 for $20. I wanted hay but he was all out. It has some big seed heads and it's nice to see the turkeys scratching trough it and eating it. They are out of the mud now to - so mission accomplished I'm quite sure my Turkeys appreciate dry feet also.

Yes your right.. turkeys don't practice scorched earth the way chickens do. Turkeys are cool with leaving some green in the yard. Chickens kill everything green, as soon at it sprouts.

My mature turkey hens are all messed up... They started laying again this week. The third week of January. At least they got smarts enough to lay under the heat lamp this time though. So installing a partition and heat lamps for both breeding sets what not a waste after all.

Dispite that it has turned cold and with snow still on the ground from Harvey. I still think we are in for an early spring. Seeing that my turkeys are laying already, it kind of confirms my guess.
