I bet that was a fun sight. Slow as a turtle... not necessarily so. they can scramble when they want to.

He sure was scrambling. The fact that he was on the inside of the fence trying to get out mean he must overwinter somewhere in the yard. Google says they prefer to "bromate" at the bottom of a shallow lake or pond. Yep - my backyard qualifies, lol!

Nothing to do but do what I can. And when DH retires I'll give him the list, lol!

Hmmm.. be sure to instruct he is to "do", not "add to", you know he's been supervising for a long while

No, he just likes my lifestyle. If I said Yes, he'd probably show up with one. He often receives my canned goods and loves them.

It really must be spring! Critters are showing up in the strangest places! I found this guy up against the wooden fence in my backyard trying desperately to teleport through the fence to get away from Gracie.

Been watching the pygmy doe all night so of course she decided to wait until early this morning. I checked on her at 4am and she did nothing but look at me like I was a crazy person for waking her up again. I jumped out of bed at 5:30 and hurried out the barn because my "spidey" sense (or would that be "goaty sense(?)") told me to. Anyway - for whatever reason I felt like I needed to be out there and quick. Wasn't quick enough I guess. She had delivered two babies - one doa. The other one is stupid...argh. She isn't the least bit interested in suckling. I've given her colostrum via syringe and am about to go out and try again. Cutest little mini Chesterette! But she might not be around much longer if she doesn't get with the program.

Noir is up next. Her udder blew up yesterday. Ligs were still there last night so I only checked on her before bedtime. This morning her ligs are low, low, low and really soft but still barely palpable. Maybe later today...

Plan is to butcher something this weekend. DH wants to do the big pig - but that doesn't mean he will "do" any of it except for the shooting. The rest falls to me and my back is already killing me today. Might do the buckling or some chickens instead. Chance of rain is 30% today so butchering may or may not wait until tomorrow... Gonna keep an eye on the sky.

Rain - again? Or, rather still? We had 4 days without -- that's longest stretch for 60 days. I'm with you on "enough!!".

Saw your POWs on SS & BYH. Now that Cowboy is a huge package of love! I know the kid thinks so. This is why he can be "excused" for his occasional "walkabout".

Clear and sunny here, we sure need it. I looked at radar and see a rain creeping up the coastline, maybe it will blow out before it gets to you. My son is working in Corpus Christi, Daughter and two youngest grand daughters were there for DD's work. She took students and another faculty member for some kind of conference, she is coming home today. She invited her brother to the madness of supper with her, kids and students and all had a good time.

Sorry about the lost baby. Bummer. Then the one that lived is a dummy. I had a ewe lose the biggest lamb and the runt survived. She was a FF and was so proud of that runt, has taken such good care of him, I won't hurt her feelings by telling her that his name is Dinner.
