Howdy! So glad to meet you all.

In the process of getting our sufficient selves started. Have always wanted to do something like this, it took me a while to get here. Have always been a city girl, always dependent on what it provides. I'm older (for sure) and wiser (okay, dubious) now and see how unsustainable our current world is and aim for more self sufficiency. And hopefully lessen our carbon footprint.

For the past year and half we've been working on getting our patch of earth ready to live in. We inherited 5 acres of raw land out in an unwanted area so we are just going use what we have. It is so close to being ready, yet sometimes feels so far away. We've been doing this cash-out-of-pocket so it's slow going. We are doing this on the cheap with a single income.

Will probably start a journal with what we have done so far and how the rest goes.

Hi all.

Welcome and it's so good to hear that you are doing things on a cash basis; so many people are up to their eyeballs in debt. )Tell us a bit about what you have planned for your land... (with pictures if possible)

Welcome! Are you getting rain today from that storm I’m watching? Hopefully it will get to us before it quits. We’re north of Tyler, Texas. We moved to 8 acres 4 years ago, having a blast. Would love to hear more about your farm!
