@baymule What breed of hair sheep do you have? Raising them for dairy, meat, both? Or are they organic lawn mowers?

I have Katahdin/Dorper mix ewes and a registered Katahdin ram. I will be culling 4-5 ewes after they lamb and want to buy registered Katahdin ewes. I raise them for meat and they joy they bring me on a daily basis.

This is going to be a stupid question, but here goes: Is Alaska an expensive place to live?

My sister and her husband are talking about moving to Alaska - they will need to be near Anchorage. I have always heard it is expensive to live in Alaska, but she says Anchorage is expensive but some of the surrounding areas aren't so bad. It would seem that it would be pricey - since most everything needs to be shipped in.

I was under the impression that much of the infrastructure in Alaska is paid for by the oil industry. So, property, income, and sales taxes may be much less.
