Thank God for this man who took his oath seriously! He knew he couldn't change things - but he voted his conscience.

Romney, a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, described to me the power of taking an oath before God: “It’s something which I take very seriously.” Throughout the trial, he said, he was guided by his father’s favorite verse of Mormon scripture: Search diligently, pray always, and be believing, and all things shall work together for your good. “I have gone through a process of very thorough analysis and searching, and I have prayed through this process,” he told me. “But I don’t pretend that God told me what to do.”

In the end, the evidence was inescapable. “The president did in fact pressure a foreign government to corrupt our election process,” Romney said. “And really, corrupting an election process in a democratic republic is about as abusive and egregious an act against the Constitution—and one's oath—that I can imagine. It's what autocrats do.”

I'm not touching this thread with a 10 foot pole, considering I'm not a Mormon and I don't live in UT-03.

All I will say is I've read an estimated 75% of his Utah district (UT-03) wanted him to vote the other way. He's supposed to represent the will of his district, as all representatives are supposed to do (both House and Senate). So It remains to be seen, if he'll keep his job as a Senator for (UT-03) or not come 2024.

The problem I have with all of this is that no one is saying whether or not requesting a look-see would have been an issue if Biden wasn't running. AND the video has been shown adnauseum of Biden bragging of his quid pro quo as VP, which has garnered ZERO discussion of him interfering with an ongoing corruption investigation by Ukraine.

Also, there is long standing bad blood between Romney and Trump. The main stream media disparaged Romney's religion (and so much more) during his run against Obama. Now that Romney took a shot at Trump, his religion is now a virtue.

@CrealCritter, I agree in principle individual congressmen should represent the will of their constituents when legislating. In this situation, they should not be voting based on polls back home, but on facts. Romney's convictions don't prevent him from being wrong in his assessment of what was presented.

I totally agree with you. When Mitt was running against oboma/biden, he and his religious beliefs we're of the devil. But now that he's voted to impeach Trump he's Saint Mitt. The hypocrisy of most of the media is so obvious you don't even need to peel back the covers to see it. But hey there's a lesson here... How to become a saint, in less than 8 years -:lol

I've heard ya'll talk about how important your faith is to you - and you're going to use this man's faith against him. That's despicable.

Both expressed public disdain for the current Ukraine policy and thought they knew better. These bureaucrats serve at the pleasure of the president.

Trump 100% in his rights to do so
