What did you do in your garden today?

My mom helped me clear out all the evil nettles so I’m super grateful they’re outta there. I may or may not have forgotten about my seedlings and killed all of them :hide that’s ok though it’s not a huge loss since I’m gonna direct sow most things
Nettle tea is Extremely good for our health.

today- weed and seed and move garlic and add/ sprinkle Territorial's Complete Fertilizer since I am out of finished compost. and then mow in the garden grass.

Gas prices has me mowing as little as possible. I'll be pulling out the scythe for the canary grass again this year.

My weed wacker is battery and I can't do more than 2 batteries worth at a time anyway.
My rider is gas - boo! My walk-behind and weed eater are both battery. Guess I'll be getting some more exercise, lol.

we got this new weed wacker because Mom wanted to use it. will she use it? no. i can go one charge with it at a time which is about an hour. if i am moving i can do most of what needs to get done in that hour. do i want to do it? no. does it get done? so far twice a year for trimming edges...

for going after thistles and other weeds i don't want to do by hand in the south field or other places i've used the blade and the string trimmer to make a difference a few times but i'm hoping this doesn't need to be done again. will have to check things out eventually. the south field looks to have some trees and perhaps other things planted in it but it's also been so wet i've not walked it again since some time ago when i took a few pictures over that ways.

i'll talk to the neighbor before going back out there with the trimmer or blade, he was ok with me doing it last year. i didn't do the whole field but i did manage to knock the thistles back somewhat from the area along the edge where the seeds would have been coming from the most and i think it did make a difference, but i'm doubtful it will be a one shot deal. it took one round of mowing (by him) and then i went out again later in the season when the 2nd round of growth was going to let seeds fly all over. seeds persist in the soil for many years so if they are around you have to keep after them. you won't be rid of them unless the farmers are forced to manage them and the roadsides and ditches are cut back a few times a season. poor planting practices and burning ditches does not control them and creates even more problems.
