What suprised me is they sent one recently that said we did not have coverage for nuclear or war. Like uh... what? That's never been on there before

i've seen that on rental insurance before. i think in either of those situations you have bigger things to worry about than if you will get compensated for damage...

Hey all! Weve been home for a lil bit now, did a massive clean up and out and dealing with some crap around the block with family it seems.

I hope everyones been doing good and all are as well as can be!

look how hot it's been! My (pop)corns been popping in the husk on the plant!!!

Those that havent been popped yet got to go on the ribbon to dry
and some attempt at braiding corns too, but I didn't like how it was coming out so I decided to reuse some 'waste' ribbon.
lots of pretty color in the corn, though these red ones were a suprise to see!
and this pretty lavender/pastel ear some kernals from the smaller ears


also a crazy big cucumber- weve harvested over a 100 lbs so far but this is the biggest one around yet! that is my sisters leg for comparison!

Love the corn -- but, popping in the husk??? Now THAT's hot!

I have some Bloody Butcher and Painted Mountain I want to plant. If I can tame this garden enough, it should be something to sell for Fall Decorations. If not, well, plenty of chickens & goats here to eat it.

What did you do with that huge cuke? Did you just let it grow to see how big it would get? Sometimes these plants to strange things.

No joke! Thankfully it looks like only a few kernals popped on a few of the others, no more as crazy like the one pictured

It's a variety called Armenian cucumber ir snake gourd isbone I've seen as well. They get very long and curly or just odd shaped. It was missed during an earlier harvest and honestly it oroducesbso quick it could have been literally a day or two alone and gotten like that :/
I'm gonna see about saving the seed from it and feeding ngf the shell to the chickens, they love them. And honestly my one row of plants has produced easily over 100 lbs now

Gotta love spell check... or perhaps fat finger syndrome. My fingers are ALWAYS getting tangled up on the key board, and I make some interesting words. But, I think you just made a new word. It shall be reserved for zucchini and other veggies that go from dainty to monstrous at the blink of an eye!

well, whatever the name -- it is HUGE. LOL Kinda like giant veg types but with a lot of more normal on the same vine. I like a cuke or 3 during the summer but, don't eat a lot. May this year since I actually planted a couple. But, few. A couple "burpless" and a couple for pickling....which stay smaller -?maybe?- Just getting 2nd leaves on these plants, so to be determined. I'm certain I will be tossing a lot to the chickens. They love me for excess goodies!

Tomatoes are my most awaited -- like most people. Oh, eggplant to.

Oddly, my green pepper plants are doing poorly while the red & yellow ones are doing super. They say those are normally less vigorous. But seemed to be a little older plants at set out -- may be why. Planted in same area, treated same, etc. I'll get what I get!

NOGAK NAMUL (cooked cucumber recipe)

This is a good way to use your old, overgrown, or over ripe cucumber, although you could use regular ones too.

1 cucumber (old, overgrown, or regular)
1 green onion, roughly chopped
2 Tbsp perilla oil (Korean ingredient, sesame oil is an acceptable substitute)
1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
4 tbsp water
½ tsp sea salt
Pinch perilla seeds (optional, or sesame seeds)

Peel cucumber and cut in half lengthwise. Scoop out the seeds from the center. Slice into thin slices. Chop garlic and green onions.

Heat the oil in frying pan medium high. Add cucumber, garlic’ and green onions. Saute for 3 minutes.

Add 4 tbsp water to pan and continue cooking an additional 2 minutes or so until most of the water is gone.

Garnish with more chopped green onions and perilla seeds . Serve warm or cold as a side dish.

It is! I actually like them a lot because I dont get the burps from them and their good producers. Glad I have chickens to eat them though because I'm not sure they will pickle the same as pickling cukes.

Tomatoes have done ok, probably roughly 10ish lbs I'd say? Not including all the ones the birds keep eating :'k

No luck with peppers hardly at all sadly
