yep, more work.... but FOR MY own satisfaction.
I may just go on and retire completely, but I may keep it for some part-time income.
I love living this lifestyle! But sometimes I get frustrated with myself, when I just can't motivate myself to get everything done that needs doing.

:old  ALL of the above

I'm having my coffee and thinking -- do I want to stay home & re-till the garden? Been raining last couple days, lightly AND heavier Mon thru Thu...geesh. I need to till.....plant....hmmmm.

So Mom has to call and tell me the story about how she brought home a stray.

She lives over in high desert Eastern Oregon so all hot and dry and 105+ today with 7% humidity. She was at the town grocery store and there was a praying mantis holding on to the automatic door as she left. Mom reached out and held a finger in front of it until it stepped up. She took it to the side of the building and it refused to step off and started shaking and backing up. She put it on the car seat next to her and took it home. It stepped up on her finger and she took it over to the giant grape she has growing in front of the house. The mantis happily hopped over to the grape.

It's just a kind of cute tale

Mom catches grasshoppers to feed them. She's always loved mantis.

i kept them as pets for a few weeks every summer as a kid - in my terrarium with the venus flytraps. :) i would catch flies for them and was always facinated by them and still am. they are so alien looking. i'm also very glad they are only able to live one season as for sure if they were able to overwinter and keep growing we humans could have been in trouble... eek! :)

We used to rescue gopher snakes from the migrant workers at the flower farms near us in CA. They apparently were convinced they were rattlesnakes. DH would pay them a dollar to surrender the snake to him, then bring it home and let it go in the corn field. I think the migrants thought we were eating them, lol

There are 5 spikes on the left antler. The right is smaller so there may only be 4. I've seen elk like that before. He kept moving too much for me to count that side properly. He's still a 5 point even if that's so. We only count one antler on deer species on this coast.

I got lucky and the dogs immediately ran to the left out of the house and didn't see him straight on. Then I got them back in without seeing him. They will chase all deer and elk off where I mow.

The pond is about 70 feet behind him. I'm about the same distance from him the other way.
