Need some advice. Clumsy move years ago busted out a side piece of glass in a curio cabinet. Finally, got a new pane of glass. Problem is, I can't figure out how to reattach the rubber strips previously tacked in to hold the glass in place. I can't find a tool in my tool box.
My brain is not working and no alcohol is involved.
Thoughts?

Add alcohol? LOL! Just kidding - I have no idea but I sure hope you can get it worked out!

Replace the strip with glaziers points? Or replace it with a thin strip of wood and finishing nails?

Those are production staples. My suggestion is to not even try and save the rubber (cording) because your gonna hose it all up trying to dig out the staples.

Just use glass retainer clips to hold the glass in the rabbeted opening, after you dig out the staples and remove the cording. Use an awel and a pair of vice grips to gently as you can remove the production staples.

Don't feel inferior if your having problems removing the staples. They have been coated in glue, just the same as your common 8d or 16d sinker nails are

That's good your a patient man... You can reuse it then. But I still would suggest the glass retaining clips. Unless your extremely skilled with a hammer and can pound in some more staples inside a small area without breaking the glass.
