I know this would be out of the counselor's scope at our schools. Unless it is a program supported by the district, such as our backpack program which sends food home on the weekend for needy families, they don't refer outside the district.
oh man ☹️ This is a complicated situation I don’t have much knowledge about.

I would think your church would have resources.

Or call your County public health or women's resource and they can direct.

Honestly, you might need to give her the resource contacts and have her reach out, she will have to take some initiative and/responsibility as well. You can be a good adult resource and mentor but she also can't become dependent on you either. You will definitely have your own hands full here soon.

I think my motherly instincts are kicked into full gear right now. It’s so hard not to just do everything for her. She doesn’t have a mama of her own. It’s just so hard. I will contact the church and see how they can help. Ahhh hormones.
Wow… I guess I’m used to public school. Our counselors would definitely be assisting this student.
Private school often doesn’t help. They did nothing to help one of my friends after both of her parents died in high school. It’s tragic.

One of the public school districts here has a staff member to help with these types of situations. She helps families find housing, furnish a new apartment, find a car, get clothes, etc.
