being a smart a$$ i'd say i love it best when someone else makes it. :) buy it at the store most of the time. just a quart is enough for me.

i love egg nog. never make it. should do that sometime this year. we just got some nutmeg so i'm ready. pretty much all i like it is a means to eat more nutmeg and sugar. same for many things like custards and rice pudding and ice cream. i'll sprinkle extra nutmeg on all of these just to get a larger jolt.
I love rice pudding with cinnamon

Where is @baymule with Momma Wall's eggnog recipe????
Here I am! In house in Groveton, propped up in bed, coffee on a bucket end table. LOL

Momma Wall’s Eggnog

12 eggs, separated
12 heaping tablespoons of sugar
12 shots bourbon
1/2 pint whipping cream

Beat egg whites until stiff
Beat whipping cream until peaks form
Beat egg yolks
Slowly add bourbon to yolks, while running mixer. It helps to have bourbon pre-mixed in container with pouring spout.
Add sugar to egg yolk, bourbon mixture
Beat well
Fold in whipped cream
Fold in egg whites
Spoon into cups, top with nutmeg or cinnamon

Momma Wall was my great Grandmother. She made eggnog for breakfast on Christmas morning. Everyone got eggnog, even little kids. My mother remembered having eggnog as a little child. Then my Grandmother made the eggnog. My non drinking parents enjoyed their eggnog and I have memories of getting sh!t-faced on Christmas Day, drinking the eggnog. LOL

Grandmother didn’t have the recipe written down, she just made it. So I watched her and wrote it down. Now I make the eggnog. My punch bowl gets used once a year for the eggnog.

On the bourbon, I use HALF of the amount of the bourbon. The bourbon cooks the egg yolks. It must be added slowly or you get scrambled eggs.

Print out the recipe and start your own family tradition.

I love egg nog, but the sweetness is not good for me. So I will just stick to the bourbon 😏

The wife made some Puerto Rican style egg nog thing last year (her ex MIL used to make it all the time, supposedly). Ick. I couldn't take a second drink.

I think powdered erythritol would be excellent in eggnog to make it low-carb / keto / diabetic-friendly.
