Friday I got white potatoes planted, raspberry bush, grape vine, and strawberries in their various places. I’m currently expanding my garden to another area on top of what I already have, and extra 288 feet! Need to get the fence up and literally everything. Started yesterday and it rained on me. Also setting up a super mini green house on my porch to sprout seeds and possibly grow stuff over the winter.
I should also put plants in pots. I’m thinking of growing three different types of lavender in three different pots to see which I like best. I have seeds for them already, so we’ll see what happens. Never done great with herbs, but I’m excited to dry them!
Hope y’all are having a fantastic Easter!

Oh my goodness. The Ohio to Mississippi word translator is working overtime on this topic. Yes, butter beans, strict protocol on preparation, too. Lololol

I have never cared for these beans. 😀
As a child, EVERY TIME I was served them, I would think "yum! BUTTER beans!"

Then, EVERY TIME, I would eat them... and think "huh, not tasty"

Good luck! I've never had any luck with 'em - but what am I trying again this year - Limas. If you succeed you'll have to give me your secrets, lol.

this article covers all the basics:

@flowerbug Thanks for the article. I've tried Fordhook and Hendersons and failed at both. They made great plants, bloomed well and set bean pods. Some of the bean pods would mature, but the majority were stunted. My guess, based on the article, is that it's heat related. But, I'm trying a different variety this year - Christmas. So far, not impressed. Very spotty germination. Sigh...

Nothing in the garden yesterday, it was windy and cold. We split and stacked wood, cut down some trees growing into the barn and trimmed up some trees and then took the scrap to the Village dump. Today is going to be snow showers and rain, so likely not much today either BUT, yes here comes the BUT, we are headed to the 60s this week with some nights staying in the 40s/50s. Not out of the freeze chance yet, but I will likely put some plants out to harden and get some direct sun this week.

Lots of plants started to ship to me next week. My beds covered with plastic are warm and smell so amazing, onions are looking good and growing.
