If I'm really interested in something I can learn and remember everything about it. If it doesn't hold much interest for me then my brain goes "why bother?"

at the level my memory works if i went that ways with learning i'd end up being just a happy little potato and not much more. to really memorize anything takes me several months of repetition. when i was trying to learn to read and play music i realized within a year that it just wasn't a skill i could get easily. one song only part ways took me about a year... so now at least i can really appreciate the people who do make music and have those skills, but i am not one of them.

Our temps are supposed to stay low today so I'll try to get some despised chores done outside. I hate weed whacking more than anything in the world. It kills my arms/hand and I'll regret doing it for the next week. But, it has to be done.

oh, yeah, i don't like anything involving noise so weed whacking and mowing are two of my least favorite things to do here.

i'm very glad we're almost done getting rid of the lawn/grassy areas and that i can do almost all my other work with loppers, hoe, shovel, scraper and knife when needed.

plus i always try to encourage Mom to replace harder to maintain things by easier to maintain ones. so i think after this morning's conversation it sounded like we've got two small gardens that she'll redo this season and hopefully i won't have to touch them for several years.

But, but, but... I LIKE being a happy little potato, lol!!!

When I took Anatomy and Physiology (I and II) in college I taped every lecture. Then I came home and transcribed them on the computer. Then I hand wrote the high points. And, then I'd read 'em aloud to myself - usually on the treadmill or exercise bike at the college gym before every exam. Those were the two hardest classes I ever took. I've gotta pat myself on the back and say I aced 'em - but only because I know how I learn and worked my behind off! So, the memory can respond if prompted in a way that works for each individual.

Just finished 90 minutes worth of weed whacking and I hated every stinkin' second of it. I had dirt and grass in my eyes, up my nose and in my ears. ARGH! I wanted to go straight to the shower, but DH laid back down and I don't want to disturb him if he can get some sleep. Along with his back woes he just doesn't feel good today. Poor guy... I guess I could shower in one of the other bathrooms - but that would be totally weird, lol. Besides all my stuff is in my bathroom... Guess I'll just be gross and stink for another hour or so.

my problem with memorizing is that i can only do so much per day and i was learning so many things that required brute memorization that trying to add yet another pile on that all by trying to pick up German was just overload.

anatomy/physiology would have been really good classes for me and i'd have enjoyed them, but instead i was able to do Biology 1, Botany and then Physics as my science classes (physics was a disaster). Botany was great, the lady who taught it was a real expert on mosses.

please don't tell me you didn't have safety glasses on? eek! i don't wear them when mowing but while weedwacking i have them on. my regular glasses will do that too, but i don't like wearing them because, well, klutz...

ok, so by now you're ok and recovered? hope the shoulder held up.

safety glasses
mmmm....shuffle feet....hanging head... making excuses. I should probably invest in a pair that will go over my glasses comfortably or I won't be able to see anything. I did finally learn my lesson about wearing shorts while weed whacking. I literally flayed my leg in about a dozen places before I could get away from that thing. Wasn't my fault - gate blew shut on me and I got all tangled up with the WW. That was about a dozen years ago and I still remember that lesson, lol.

Today is the appt for DH with the Neurologist. Hope they have answers and solutions, but not holding my breath.

Gonna pick up paint while we're out. UGH!

Talked to my hay guy yesterday and he should be baling this week. I'm on my last bale so I'm awaiting his call! He's getting $60 for a 5 x 5 bale. That's down $10 from last year! Love my hay guy.
