our washing machine (new as of a year or two ago) started making bad grinding and clunking noises and no longer finishes a load reliably. good thing i bought the extended warranty and they will be out tomorrow afternoon to look/fix it. with how much Mom uses it it was a good decision, plus we got burned by last washing machine and not getting the extended warranty.

Just a FYI... I just went through this with our tankless hot water heater Be expected to pay for two service calls. One to diagnose the problem and order the part. The second to repair the problem. But I asked him to tell me the part number. I found the part on ebay for $5.00 plus free shipping. So I avoided the second $120.00 service call. Took me all of two minutes to repair.

I hope so too, ours only covered parts, not labor.

The plumber had a secret squirrel code to be able to talk to manufacture support over his cell phone. I tried to call support they told me I had to call a factory authorized plumber.

Things are not what they used to be. I even told the support lady I was handy. And used the red green line. "If the ladies don't find you handsome, they should find you handy". She laughed but wouldn't budge. I tried...

Whenever I order a part, I order a spare. I have boxes in the garage labeled "mower," "chickens," and so on.

so many things are disposable these days and not designed with "fixing" in mind. i used to do things like that and often have odd bits of this and that around but i got rid of most of a closet full of old computer parts because time had passed them by and they weren't going to be used again.

even things like air filters and water filters and sink faucet aerators i have on hand may no longer work because we have changed those recently too. in a small house keeping things like that around when they aren't any good any more is just adding to my piles of things to deal with and i really need to get rid of some of this stuff...

gladly i did clear up a shelf of beans and some square feet of floor space recently so i've regained some space at last. it's only taken me about five years to get that done.

Well, when I sold my old house I left the 40 yo but still functional washer behind, with a box of parts for the most common problems. My mower blades, filters and tires won't need to be purchased again, which I take as a win. If I sell the mower, the new owner will get them.

Simple enough to maintain my space by not buying anything I don't have space for. The boxes are labled and on shelves out in the garage. When in doubt, there's always a market for replacement parts.

I got a new handle in my favorite shovel. Found 2 new 49" ash handles on ebay for $14.00 plus free shipping.

IDK my favorite shovel is old and heavy. Kind of like me, old but not heavy, that's why it's kind of like me.

I got a deal on feed yesterday. I got 5 assorted bags for $15 each instead of $22 each. Thats a savings of $35. One turkey starter at 30%, 2 broiler finisher at 26%, 2 broiler pellets at 21% and one unmarked bag. I put the 21% in one barrel and mixed the other 3 together in another barrel. I’ll feed the big chickens the 21% . I have 24% crumble in another barrel that I’ll add a little of the high protein feed to, so I’ll just add some of the mixed barrel to it for the little chicks.

My friend gave me feed when they switched to the broiler finisher. She has some more chickens for me, I’ll pick them up on Friday afternoon. Fair is Friday and Saturday.
