Speaking of getting old. I needed to wash our new to us winter comforter. Dog hair, muddy paws, and such. I knew I needed a large washer. I went to the laundromat right in the middle of Battle Ground and found ppl putting their comforter in the ONLY large one there - 49 min cycle. So I drove to the other one. Got there, saw the large drum and put my comforter in it. Dang it, forgot the soap. Well, they sell soap there. Put in my 5 quarters and found the machine was out of soap. And it wouldn't give my quarters back, so I picked bleach. I was frustrated with everything, so I went home.

Went back in the afternoon, put my comforter in there, and studied how to turn it on. Thank goodness I did. I couldn't understand why it only said HOT. Where were the water controls? What's going on? Thank goodness again, that I didn't add my liquid soap that I had in a half pint canning jar. I was trying to use the DRYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turned around and looked at the back wall. THERE were the washers!! Moved my comforter, added soap (way too much), put in my cc, and $14.75 later, it started to wash. And soap. Lots of soap. Lots of bubbles. I had brought a book, so I read a few pages, and looked at the washer. Lots of suds. Deep sigh.

I could have moved it to a smaller washer which was only $9.75 for another cycle to get rid of some of the soap. Nah. I moved it to the very same large drum I had been trying to do laundry in, and dried it for 5 minutes. $3.25.

Took it home and spread it out on my rack for drying clothes.

I tell you, friends. I'm losing it.

Next time, soak it in the bathtub overnight. Go agitate it a few times. Next morning, drain, add fresh water, agitate, can use hands or baseball bat or broom handle…. Drain. Rinse again. Drain. You can let it drain awhile or get in bathtub and “stomp grapes” LOL Put in laundry basket and drag it outside. Spread a clean sheet on the ground, spread comforter on the sheet and sun dry.

Reminds me of old days at grandmas BUT no indoor plumbing -- just big metal tubs outside for ALL laundry There would be a fire with hot water brewing to add as needed. Whites first, then colors

Guess that's memories with my morning cuppa.

Much cooler today, thankfully! Rains coming, half inch or such. Have a few small work jobs to do. Prob today will be good for that. This is one of our seasonal slow times -- this and winter. You adjust.

I did chores, loaded Carson in the truck and went to get diesel. I fueled the mule and took him for a ride. Happy dog.

I've considered raised bed, even planter tubs. Don't really "need" a big garden anymore -- beyond bragging rights . Just me to feed. But, I do grow extras for sharing & tossing to animals. Weather & work sched has kept it from happening this yr.

Slept late -- yeah, 7 when I finally got up That's fine.it was overcast, so dingy light. Nice sleeping. Tall, wet grass will make a few chores late anyway. Need to mow yard but several rainy days this week, and all day yesterday, has set that back until drier. Pastures are raging -- that part is good. Need to bushhog back fields. Maybe this weekend.

Defrosting the freezer is today's big chore. Everything in coolers and I'm just waiting for the ice to rot enough it breaks off easier

Also had to reorder hubby's Tolvaptan. Every single month. Because of all the bloodwork for it, they don't do more than a month at a time. At least he's on the 3 months for the bloodwork instead of every month now. It can cause liver damage if you don't tolerate it and has to be stopped immediately. He tolerates it very well with only side effect having to pee more.
