I've been remiss to post here, so let's get 'er done!

Hubby and I live in rural Wisconsin. We raise/breed silkie chickens, and also have a pair of female ducks, two dogs, three cats, two macaw parrots, a pair of parakeets, and a chinchilla.

We try to plant and do things that are not only good for us, but the animals too. Our latest project is to go solar with a system that could be tied to the grid if down the road we choose to do so.

Have found lots of great posts and topics here so this forum is a great resource!

Welcome from western Washington state!

What variety of silkie? I raise partridge
Hi there! We know each other from BYC! I have black, white, chocolate, buff, cuckoo, paint, splash, and partridge, namely a silver moorhead partridge I showed you there. This spring, I'm doing my "own line" of mottled with two I bred from a single mottled gened black hen with a chocolate roo.

I have not been able to get a silver partridge rooster for that hen btw. I kept a couple hopefuls, both were pullets. If I would have hoped for pullets, they'd have been roosters lol. I breed her with a white rooster and a red pyle. They made these in my test batch. I kept a couple of those lighter partridges, which were pullets. I'll try again in the spring.

Old memory: When Daddy was over in the Vietnam War, us kids won a mated pair of chinchillas from the Sacramento County Fair. We had those two for quite a few years! Tai and Wan, cus that is where he was stationed as a squadron commander. They had about three babies over the years.

Welcome from Southern Washington!
