What are you having for Thanksgiving dinner?

I found a thread like this on BYC so thought that I would start 1 here as well. I'm making the turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni salad and a homemade pumpkin pie. The daughter is making lemon bars, sweet potato casserole and ham. The daughter in law is making deviled eggs, rolls and green bean casserole.

chuck roast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mushroom and onion gravy, cranberry sauce, not sure of what vegetables but there will be some kind.

Traditional for us- I'll be making a ham, deviled eggs, a green veggie of some kind, and chocolate pie. DS is smoking a turkey. There will be various other sides from other family members.

Traditional. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, Brussels sprouts, and candied sweet potatoes.

Mom does a lot and I help out on prep and cooking. So I only needed to supply drinks which travel easier. I'm supposed to check sweet potato prices at the store or we'll have canned. I think I saw both garnet and jewel for .99 a pound, which is .30 cheaper than Mom can get. I prefer garnets.

One brother has dessert which will be ice cream this year. Other brother has rolls.

Mom finally convinced Dad we didn't need a ham as well this year. Always too much meat and brothers take a large chunk home.

Just the two of us on Thursday. Probably won't do anything special. Dinner Friday with the youngest daughter and her boyfriend. Turkey breast, mashed potatoes, and two vegetables to be determined. I will make an apple pie for dinner and a second one for her to take home.

Maybe some low carb cookies.

No big deal here....alone at house, DD alone there, DS same. So not even a big dinner. Just another day at home.

Mini: you could fly out to WA and eat with us. We are staying home and not going to DD's house. Hubs didn't want to. So it will just be the three of us. One more won't be a bother.

That's sad to hear about. You would be welcome to come join us.

Thanks but, don't be sad -- we aren't. We used to have a big meal. But as our family became smaller & were all working, it became more inconvenient than fun. We all live here on my farm (separate housing) so see one another enough. We do have a meal together at Christmas...or birthdays. We just don't need or want a "buffet" anymore.

Remember that age has a bit to do with these things. My kids are 56 & 59, DGD almost 24 we've had many years of meals to cook, clean up after & reheat. Yeah, kinda "over it". Was fun when kids were young & a big family (ex hub & his siblings) to enjoy. Now we relax! Have a sandwich & a glass of wine

So happy to hear that it's more about (more work than worth), and yet I would still love to have you here for dinner anytime, any day. Much love to you girlfriend.
