Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Wrangling goats is a full course gym & ninja work out rolled into one 🤣 They can be gentle and loving, then flip out with no notice. Not in a mean way, just unannounced.

Slept well until alarm. Looks like some light sprinkles happened, probably just before daybreak. I've gotten 2 loads of laundry washed, dried & folded....thankful for cold ham at breakfast, with hot coffee. Taking a short break before I tackle any lists. See no job work on horizon so seems I'm in "temp retirement" mode. :old :idunno winter routine.

Have my cuppa and contemplating the upcoming day. What should I do? Outside work or inside work or split it up? I have 16 chicks in the brooder that need to come out. Need to work on an outside pen for them this morning. But wait - DH just informed me that he's out of meds. Need to go get his pill stash done for the week.

Yep! We've had "hottober" and "not so cool November". I believe Houston set a record earlier this week for reaching 86 or 87. It's just a little unseasonal. I'd rather have cool, but my fall garden is happy - for now.

Heat and drought

Let’s start with record setting daytime warmth for Houston. Monday through Thursday of this week are going to bring high temperatures in the mid- (and for some locations) upper-80s. Here are the city’s current record highs for these days, along with forecast highs in parentheses.

  • Nov. 17: 86 degrees (85)
  • Nov. 18: 84 degrees (87)
  • Nov. 19: 85 degrees (86)
  • Nov. 20: 84 degrees (85)

We are supposed to cool down a little in the upcoming week. Lows all the way down to 49, lol.
