When we lived in ohio myers was about 20 minutes west of us. When I was in high school you could go there and get the leftovers or clean outs. You could just stop in and ask for whatever they had and the might be a quarter a piece. Best thing I found for roosters is to take them to auction in Mt hope. We would average $15 a piece for them and get as high as $20.

They are good folks. I have fond memories of driving home with boxes of day old peeps loudly chirping in the back seat.

When I think 30 chicks, feed, and butchering days -- I'm suddenly between ....
"Is there really too many chems in store bought?"
And "should I be vegetarian?"

The butchering is gross in so many ways, BTDT. Hard to get started. Once you do, you plow on thru, mumbling nasty things. 😵‍💫 I find it easier if another there to talk to, rather than a lone event. Misery loves company, as they say.

Having customers who pay well sure makes it a more positive event. Kudos to @baymule for having them.

Less bloody is gardening. Hard work, thankful after canning.
