I have been researching for hours on this topic and the main problem seems to be not the amo or the license but the LAND. Prices to hunt on land are insane unless you are good friends with someone who is already set up.
I just read that Texas allows hunters to kill wild hogs year-round without limits! I wonder how many hogs there are/competition since im sure there are plenty of hog hunters because of this.
is there places in the US where you can go and get an unusual amount of meat/kill without a lot of cost other than camping? if so, perhaps a few months out of the year and a little traveling might justify it.
This all sound great. But how much time do you usually spend in the woods before you get one deer?
All I am saying is if you spend 40 hours hunting and catch one deer at 5.00/hour thats 200.00 for one deer.
At this point you'd be better off getting a second job and buying the meat yourself (if...
Ok, I know most people probably hunt for the SPORT but...when it comes to the economics of it is it really worth it if you are trying to save money on the grocery bill?
I mean after you pay for amo (and how many shots you MISSED) and the butcher and all the times you spent all day and didnt get...

I dont know ANY farmers around here. It would be nice to make some like-minded friends locally!
You take a can of black beans, ad an egg, mash them up real good until they get sticky and gooye, form a patty and grill or bake it.
if you like you can ad unions, corn and all sorts of healthy things.
I just ad lots of BBQ sauce to mine and sometimes ketchup... its real good.
My little girl...
I first tried a bean burger about a month ago while experimenting with *cheap* but healthy food ideas. After all ground beef cost a lot of money now days.
The first one I made sucked.
The last one was great but still not meaty enough.
I want to see how close I can get this to taste meaty...
I was thinking about growing some crops or something and selling locally but not sure what to try first.
Any ideas?
Just looking for something to bring me a few hundred/month.
It gets 100 degrees here in MS during the summer. I hope I am not going to have to run my air conditioner when I leave the house just to make sure my canned foods are ok. This would defeat the purpose of saving money :(
