Do any of you go WITHOUT health insurance? By choice?

When you look at your statement from the insurance company, you will always see that the doctor charges about 2 to 3 times what the insurance pays. They pay him a set amount that he has agreed to, If you are paying cash, he should be willing to let you pay what the insurance company pays. When...

    Suing McDonalds

We have one daughter that loves all fruits and most veggies. Another daughter loves all fruits and no veggies, Both boys want nothing but carbs and sugar. They will eat grapes and Cuties. Eggs, neat and cheese are a struggle. Thanks for the ideas. We want to save money but we want them to get...

    Suing McDonalds

Any ideas for brown bag lunches that are healthy and not cost prohibitive are welcome. I like the green peas idea, forgot about string cheese. The lids like that stuff. We have a hard time getting the 2 youngest to eat their sandwiches. I know chips are junk food. They're better than sugar...

    Suing McDonalds

Genetics really do play a role in obesity. Not an excuse by any means. It's just that some kids can eat a lot of junk and stay skinny as a rail. Other kids can eat some junk and some healthy and get fat. I have 5 kids from 5 different sets of parents. 3 are skinny as string beans, 1 is about...

    Cat question

We found a mouse nest right next to our chicken house. There were a bunch of little babies with their eyes still closed. We gave them to the chickens. It was kind of gross. Has anyone ever seen Food of the Gods withe the giant chickens that are bigger than people?

    Cat question

That's horrible. It only cost 200 to have my 7 year old Belgian neutered. He stayed overnight too. Cats reproduce like rabbits. Around here they encourage spaying and neutering of cats and dogs. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't have a cat or a dog if it cost 200 to have it fixed.

    Cat question

We have 3 indoor cats that are males and they don't ever spray. At least not in the house. They were all neutered around 6 months. We also have 2 females outside. They moved here when the neighbors moved and left them. They are spayed and they never spray in the garage. We have never had mice...

I have a friend who is an astronomer. Has a bachelors degree. Got laid off in 2006 and hasn't gotten anything better than Target since then. My daughter just graduated with a bachelor in Journalism. She is working for Scripps Howard at around 30k total compensation. My son is a sophomore at CU...

Could you live without internet for a week?

Same here. Spend my evenings doing this instead of stuff that needs to be done. I'm thinking of putting it in the bedroom. That way I'll just use it for necessary stuf.

    BIG NEWS!!!

Try Skybeam for internet service. They use a radio setup for 39.99 a month and it's faster than the dish setups and more reliable. Cheaper to install too. Who needs TV. Someday I'm going to talk the wife in to dumping it. Do they ever grow anything in the areas that the circle doesn't cover?

N.Y. lawmakers hatch plan to require salmonella vaccinations

The USDA is not that well funded. They have quite a shortage of inspectors. Maybe that will change now. Of course the vaccinations are probably a lot cheaper. As was mentioned we are used to cheap food. The gov makes huge subsidies to provide us with edible food at a reasonable price. I think...

    Double Dip Recession?

Well you're right about selling the house. We've had quite a few foreclosures and it has dropped values a lot. In other words we're upside down. We are on 8 acres and they won't let you go lower than that with our zoning. We are in a walk out ranch and we could divide the basement in half and...
