Do you have a secret recipe?

My elderly neighbor always says a secret is only a secret if one person knows it...LOL No secret recipes here. I consider myself blessed if someone asks me for a recipe.

Stew recipes....is there a thread already?

Beef stew is actually easy to do. I never brown my meat. Don't know why, just don't. I add worcestershire sauce for flavor, along with other spices like pepper, garlic, seasoned salt, etc. I just add more flavor after it is done if not salty enough etc. easier to add than try to remove. Good...

    SS deer counter.

I hope I can add into this too. Hubby got a 10 point buck last night. First in many years for him. I haven't seen it yet. Best thing is one shot through the heart with a pistol, which is legal in Wisconsin to use. He is happy. I'm happy to have a freezer full of venison again.:)

Just my opinion, but I think corn starch makes a lot nicer gravy than flour. Just mix it with very cold water before adding to your juices . I put cut up beef and a cup of water and alot of chunky veges in my slow cooker and cook away till done. Then add the corn starch mixture.

Husbands deer (dont I sound thrilled?)

Nice buck and nice of you to share your blind. That is the hunting ethic for sure.:) Wisconsin gun deer season opens tomorrow and with the cold temps out there, I'm glad to be home in a warm house.

    Wisconsin Roll Call

Thank you for the welcome. I was raised in the country and actually know some about farming but didn't want to be a farmer's wife or one myself, much to my hubby's dismay.

Hi Everyone...Just signed up over the weekend. I'm in the Green Bay area suburbs. No farm, no chickens or other critters, except three very spoiled dogs..I have been "snoopin" around here for a while and decided to join up. Interesting site.
