Has anyone ever grown Asparagus? This is my favorite vegetable and from what I read it will grow back every year. Anyone have any experience growing this?
I don’t think talking them to slaughter will bother her. I could be wrong about that but she will watch us process our deer. It could be different for her with it being a pet though so I will have to tread lightly on that and explain to her why we do what we do.
Welcome, I am new here as well and am in East Texas myself. I am really intrigued about the idea of aquaphonics and would love to see some pictures of your set up once you start working on it.
I really don’t know. I have never had goat meat or milk. I am mainly going to get the goats because that’s what my daughter wants. I have thought about getting show goats and selling the kids to our local FFA and at least make some money off of them.
I do know that goats are on the agenda. I have a 9 year old daughter that is saying that she wants goats. There is no fence at all. The land is surrounded by hundred of acres of wooded untouched land (that I can hopefully purchase In the future) I for sure want to get info on goats from you. I...
I honestly haven’t thought of that. I was thinking more of being able to hunt oh my own land. I guess putting a fence up around the garden is the only way to keep it safe then. Or is there other options that are better?
Thank you to everyone for all of the usefull info and I definitely will be taking and posting pics. I’m happy that I joined here I feel like I will be picking everyone’s brain for ideas and help. As far as the land is now it is 20 acres of fairly dense woods. There are no fences, homes or any...
I go through Lindale quite a bit for work. I honestly haven’t decided on how many chickens to get. I have to get my living arrangements situated first and clear the land. I should have a good stock of firewood after clearing the land though.
I am over in Kilgore about 30 miles east of you right off I20. Our ground has red clay as well. Not sure how that is going to work when it comes to gardening.
That sounds great because I know I will need some help for sure. Unfortunately I don’t live by the coast. I am in East Texas but I really enjoy offshore fishing and do it every time we travel.
Hey everyone, I am new here and new to the self sufficient lifestyle. I just purchased 20 acres to start on and want to learn as much as a can about everything that I can. I am going to start with animals and a garden first.
